12:06 p.m. Love’s dying embers still emit a spark now and then, as a woman reported a spat with her ex-girlfriend.
3:52 p.m. A dog ran all panicky through a Valley West motel lobby, trapped in a sanitized-for-its-convenience world it never made.
4:39 p.m. The roiling humanity around an I Street information kiosk swelled to levels requiring police dilution.

A trailer park struck a harsh chord
When somebody brandished a sword
Well, not quite a saber
An angrified neighbor
Held management off with a board.
