What I want to know about you ...

Wed Feb 15, 2006, 6:19 PM

Mood: Meditative / Reflective Always wondering ...
Listening to: Live whalesongs through the net
Reading: Cien años de soledad by Gabriel García Márquez
Watching: Down the rabbithole

What I want to know about you ...

It doesn't interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your life's longing.

It doesn't interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn't interest me what planets are squaring your moon.
I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life's betrayals or have been shriveled and closed from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn't interest me if the story you're telling me is true.
I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself, if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray you own soul.

I want to know if you can be faithful and therefore be trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty even when it is not pretty everyday, and if you can source your life from God's presence.

I want to know if you can live with the failure, yours or mine, and still stand on the edge of a lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, 'Yes'!

It doesn't interest me to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done for the children.

It doesn't interest me where or what or with whom you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you from the inside when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone with yourself, and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

It doesn't interest me who you are, how you came to be here.

I want to know if you will stand in the center of the fire with me and not shrink back.

That, I want to know.

Thank you Jim !
I trust your Valentines day was purrfect as ever ?
I'm envisioning you surrounded by your beloved women ... (wives? daughters?) massaging you & feeding you various foods.
That's about accurate isn't it ? ;-)

I ache for few things, but the love I have still pains me, I want it here, and now :)

I already have looked a fool for love, and I am A OK with that

indeed i have touched my deep sorrows, more than I like, but all that pain has made me appreciate the love of life that much more

I am learning to sit with my pain... slowly

happiness often makes me forget I am human :)

i can't help but be true to myself, i have learned many hard lessons in my few years

i pride myself in my fanatical loyalty :salute:

i go on for me, and for others, sometimes i think i care too much

my sustenance is knowing those who love me, and the piano, and those who i know need me :)

i am very good at being with me alone.

i like being in the blaze, any day dear

what about you??

take care :ahoy:

Let me answer that with a koan:

_Not the Wind, Not the Flag_

Two monks were arguing about a flag. One said: `The flag is moving.'
The other said: `The wind is moving.'

The sixth patriach happened to be passing by. He told them: `Not the wind, not the flag; mind is moving.'

Mumon's Comment: The sixth patriach said: `The wind is not moving, the flag is not moving. Mind is moving.' What did he mean? If you understand this intimately, you will see the two monks there trying to buy iron and gaining gold. The sixth patriach could not bear to see those two dull heads, so he made such a bargain.

Wind, flag, mind moves.
The same understanding.
When the mouth opens
All are wrong.
